How can you make a difference?
The WASH Officer will support UNICEF RCO as part of the Country Programme 2025-2029. Under the supervision of the Chief WASH, the WASH Officer provides technical, operational and administrative assistance throughout the programming process for WASH programmes/projects within the country programme from development planning to delivery of WASH output results. The WASH Officer prepares, manages and implements a variety of technical and administrative tasks, related to the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the WASH output results of the country programme.

- Programme management, monitoring and delivery of results
- Technical and operational support for programme implementation
- Humanitarian WASH preparedness and response
- Innovation, knowledge management and capacity building

Minimum requirements
- Education: An advanced university degree in Public Health, Social Services, sanitary engineering, environmental engineering, civil engineering, behavior change communication, sanitary engineering or another relevant technical field.
- Work Experience: 2 years of relevant work experience in WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene), Public health, humanitarian response and any other related fields.
- Skills: Rural water supply for low- and middle-income countries – including water safety, sustainability. Rural sanitation for low-income countries, incl sustainability. Urban sanitation for low- and middle-income countries, incl sustainability. Handwashing with soap. WASH-in-Schools and Health Centers. National government WASH policies, plans and strategies.
- Language Requirements: Fluency in English is required.
Desirables
- Knowledge of Kinyarwanda is highly desirable and knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
